PYA to Endorse ACREW Workshops

PYA ACREW

The Professional Yachting Association (PYA) is keen to take an active role in ACREW’s professional development events and has worked with ACREW to endorse the content of certain workshops on offer.

It will be clear which workshops are endorsed by the PYA when registering for ACREW events and your attendance can now be recorded in the PYA Crew Work Book.

Being able to demonstrate to captains that you have taken an active interest in your own continuing professional development (CPD) is of immense benefit in any recruitment scenario and it is positively regarded by captains when hiring.

The PYA is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards in the yachting industry and encourages yacht crew in all departments to take part in professional development workshops to enhance their skills and gain a competitive edge at every stage of their career.

In addition to recording your continuing professional development, the PYA Crew Work Book can also be used to list your qualifications and act as a work log to record your sea time. This can be presented to future employers and crew agencies in conjunction with your CV.

The PYA will be present at key ACREW events to explain the role of the association and the many benefits to crew of becoming a member. Today and tomorrow Captain Rod Hatch will be representing the PYA at the Acrew event at IYCA in Antibes, so make sure you find him and introduce yourself!

Special Offer:

Crew attending ACREW events can join the PYA as a Cadet Green (for crew with less than 2 years' experience) or as an Interior member at the reduced rate of €20 instead of €50, which includes the PYA Crew Work Book.

For details of upcoming ACREW events offering PYA endorsed workshops please visit www.acrew.com.

The PYA Crew Work Book is the perfect tool for junior deck/engineering crew and for interior crew to record their time spent at sea. It can be used to list qualifications, act as a work log and record professional development. Using the same format as the PYA MCA-approved Service Record Book, it encourages junior crew to start good habits by recording their sea service. Interior crew can record guest days which can be used to apply for a CoC (Certificate of Competency) for the GUEST Program.
