Girls on Deck in the Year of the Girl

Luxury yachting is still an industry in which men tend to hold deck and engineering roles while women more usually work in the interior department as stewardesses.

However, thanks to passionate women - and men - who are keen to see a change, a ground shift for gender equality in yachting is gathering pace.  

Sophie Jordand and Alison Rentoul have started a new FB group for female exterior and engineering superyacht crew, open to anyone who wants to get involved, men and women.

In this Year of the Girl it's attracting a lot of interest, with members sharing their personal stories and pictures from across the globe. There's also a great story behind it and support in high places.
