MLC 2006

The Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) becomes mandatory on 20 August 2013.

For new construction yachts, the revised crew accommodation requirements are contained in LY3 sections 21A and 21B, which is of interest to all yacht builders and designers.

Seafarers Employment Agreements (SEAs) replace existing crew agreements.

Note that examination of SEA's will be undertaken by the attending surveyor as part of the MLC audit.

It is intended to harmonise MLC audits and certification with those for ISM and ISS
