The Infinite SIM - Disrupting Superyacht Connectivity?

Like everything we do at the YOT Store, we disrupt the yachting industry norms. Currently, nearly all SIM card suppliers are selling data by the GB, which in today's world is extremely expensive, you have no control over your expenditure and you never know how much your bill will be - it's just such an old school way of operating.

We realised something had to change, so we set out to simplify the new normal with a no-nonsense, stress-free data solution where there are genuinely no limits. It took us a while to negotiate a great deal with a provider who wanted to innovate and be highly competitive, but we achieved it and we can now pass on giant savings to our clients, both existing and new. 

Who wants to be limited in today's world? With the likes of Zoom and Microsoft Teams keeping the world together, people are consuming more data that ever.

We chose the name 'Infinite SIM' because the data is truly unlimited yet the cost is considerably lower than most of the alternatives currently available to yachts, and you don't have to waste your time logging into portals to check your usage simply because it's unlimited - how awesome!

How many different types of SIM card do you offer?

We wanted to simplify the SIM card process, so we have only one option on the Infinite Data Plan. The price per SIM is €699 per month and after an initial three month engagement it's month-to-month, so no yearly contracts. The SIM uses Vodaphone Corporate network and not a consumer grade card, giving you priority in congested locations and a consistently good experience across the world. 

Which countries are covered by the unlimited data SIM?

A total of 53 countries are included across Europe, the Caribbean, the USA and further afield:

EUROPE:

Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Territories, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores), Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden (including Aland Islands), Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican.

Note: All European countries are included except Montenegro, which has different rules and regulations - anybody in the yachting industry will know about the issues here! However, we have local contacts in Montenegro who can assist vessels there too.

CARIBBEAN ISLANDS: French Caribbean, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Martin.

NORTH AMERICA: USA

FAR EAST & ASIA PACIFIC: Guam

AFRICA & INDIAN OCEAN:  Mayotte, Reunion 

Note: To avoid any additional costs and nasty surprises, if you cruise outside these countries, we can log in to the yacht's router remotely and block usage in those countries.

What are the benefits of the SIM?

The greatest benefit is cost saving, as the Infinite SIM is substantially less expensive than most alternatives. It's offers great flexibility as many yachts don't want to be tied into a 12 month contract, and it's also very easy to set up.

Is the Infinite SIM truly unlimited?

Yes, that's why we called it the Infinite SIM. Typically when a consumer-grade SIM is sold as 'unlimited' there is a 'fair usage policy' (FUP) to protect the network from being abused and saturated with users. Once you reach the FUP's download threshold your service is likely to be severely compromised. Our business grade SIMs have higher priority and there is no FUP in place, so data is genuinely unlimited.

What are the data speeds with the Infinite SIM?

This depends on the location of the vessel and the stability of the local cellular network. However, the speed will vary from site to site, as there are multiple things to consider. For instance, how advanced the country's cellular network is, how close the vessel is to the nearest cell tower and how congested the network is in the local area and the overall design and quality of the installation and hardware on board. 

How will the yacht be billed?

We will send you an invoice, which you can pay by bank transfer or via our smart payment gateway via all major credit and debit cards. 

Are there any upfront deposits taken for this service as with other providers?

No, we do not take an upfront deposit on our service as we've always thought it strange to do so. However, we charge a one-time set up fee of €50 and we require an initial term of three months. After that, the plans runs month by month with no engagement.

Are there any shipping costs involved for the delivery of the SIM cards?

No, we ship our Infinite SIMs worldwide to your preferred address.

Are there any other hidden fees with this service?

There is a €50 activation fee which will be added to the first month of service. If the service is used to roam within the selected 53 countries, there are no additional fees. Countries outside our roaming regions are capped at €150 per month with 5GB of data. Once this limit is reached, roaming outside the 53 countries will be automatically stopped. Our certified Pepwave engineers can also guide you or login into your Pepwave remotely, to allow the Pepwave to roam only in selected countries. It's important to know that if you roam outside of these 53 countries you will be subject to international roaming surcharges - please see our T&Cs for further information. 

Do you offer support for clients with any connectivity issues?

These SIMs rarely go wrong but, in the rare event that they do, you can call or email us directly, and we will resolve the issue remotely. We issue all of our clients a checklist to help guide them through any connection issues, however we are always at the end of the phone or email.

If the issue is related to the service, then we have a direct line to the cellular network for troubleshooting any problems. If the issue is related to the infrastructure on board, our certified Peplink engineers can troubleshoot and help to get your network back online.
