Three of 2021's Best New Boats for Your Tender Fleet
This year has seen an influx of amazing new boats from manufacturers all over the world, hitting the water. No matter your priorities, there's a new launch for everyone! In this article, we look at three of 2021's best new boats for your tender fleet.
Everglades 455cc
This is the newest beast from US manufacturer Everglades and it’s ready to supercharge your chase boat’s inventory.
The 455 CC was launched in 2021 and is now the flagship of, and largest model on offer from Everglades. The company says that it’s the longest and widest boat that it has ever made, and it also features the biggest console that it has ever fitted to a boat.
The console itself boats three Garmin touchscreen multifunction displays that provide all of the info at the touch of a finger that you could possibly need about the boat and its systems and the fish below it. Your passengers won’t be left out of the action either, thanks to a second set of Garmin displays mounted into the hardtop above the passenger seats.
On your way to and from the fishing grounds, you and your crew will be seated in luxurious Release Marine helm seats finished with high-quality wood accents that you’ll also find throughout the boat and the cabin.
Speaking of the cabin, the accommodation on the 455CC is spectacular. It features a separate shower and heads compartment, climate control, a galley area, and best of all, a king-sized convertible bed.
The 455CC is designed to meet the needs of the most demanding fishing enthusiast. The boat includes strategically located gear drawers, rod holders and in-floor fish boxes. But if you’d prefer to go diving, there are side access doors to both port and starboard, for easy access on and off the deck.
If you want to order a 455cc, you need to move fast as it’ll be offered to dealers in limited quantities only.
Dragonfly 40
With two major European awards under its belt, the Dragonfly 40 deserves your attention as the perfect compact sailing yacht for when the need for windspeed strikes.
The Dragonfly 40 is a trimaran hulled sailing boat manufactured by Quorning yachts in Denmark. The yacht has been praised for its easy handling, its high average speeds, and its efficient and smooth ride quality. But don’t just take my word for it. The Dragonfly 40 won the 2021 European Yacht of the Year award in the Performance Cruiser category and then later went on to win the 2021 Multihulls Magazine award in the under 45 feet category.
One of the yacht’s standout features is its unique ‘Swing Wing’ hulls. This is a folding system for the outriggers that tucks them in against the hull, substantially reducing the overall hull width. This allows the Dragonfly 40 to easily sneak into smaller berths or even to be recovered onto a trailer and driven away. What’s not to like?
Well, the price, perhaps. At €570 000, it’s not exactly a cheap runabout. But if you’re looking for a unique, high-performance offshore sailing yacht with real credentials, then the Dragonfly 40 should be at the top of your shopping list.
Lomac Big Game 760
The latest models from Italian RIB manufacturer Lomac are designed for fishing and family, and they should definitely be on your tender shopping wish list.
The Lomac Big Game 760, 600 and 540 were designed in collaboration with a professional fisherman to ensure that the boats are able to meet the needs of the serious fishing client. But family is also important, so the whole range includes features to make everyone comfortable and happy on the water.
According to Lomac, the Big Game range of boats are the first RIBs on the market that are specifically designed to go fishing, so you’ll find all of the equipment that you’d expect in a modern fishing boat.
Starting with the helm position, the console incorporates two large Garmin multifunction displays that feed all of the boat’s systems back to you, keeping the skipper in full control of the vessel. A Fusion audio system keeps the tunes going while out fishing, and there is plenty of storage for all of your kit.
Under the deck, the Big Game 760 includes a 340-litre fuel tank and a 30-litre fresh water tank to serve the onboard sink and a handheld shower. The deck can be specified with an optional wet bar, a sun pad and additional seating if needed, to keep the whole family happy.
The standard power package for the Big Game 760 is a single Mercury Pro XS 300 V8 outboard, but if you prefer dual outboards then the boat is available in that specification too at your request.
Conclusion
We’re only halfway through 2021 and already the world’s boatyards have served up some fantastic new models, many of which would make fine replacements for any tired old superyacht tenders. We’ve checked out three highlights, including the Everglades 455cc centre console sports fisher from the US, the Dragonfly 40 trimaran from Denmark, and the Italian stallion - the Big Game 760 from Lomac in Italy.
