Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2017 Firing on all Cylinders
Despite the damage and hardship caused to many Carbbean islands by the recent hurricanes, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show is up and running with over 70 magnificent yachts registered and ready for viewing. Antigua is still the place to be at this time of year and the eagerness of yachts to attend is testimony to the huge moral and practical support in action across the yachting community.
The 56th Antigua Charter Yacht Show takes place over six days, from 4 -10 December, at the Nelson's Dockyard Marina in English Harbour, the Falmouth Harbour Marina and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, both in Falmouth Harbour. A shuttle service runs between the three marinas during show hours.
Due to demand from charter brokers and yacht management companies, all registered yachts will remain on the dock for the full five viewing days. The final 'Day Sail' day gives management companies the opportunity to invite brokers to experience the crusing grounds of Antigua's stunning coastal waters and islands on board some of the finest charter yachts available in the Caribbean.
That the Antigua Charter Yacht Show is firing on all cylinders is largely due to the fast response of the Show's directors and staff after hurrican Irma, putting plans in place to mitigate its impact on the region's economic mainstays of tourism and yachting. The Caribbean is well used to hurricanes and has time-tested plans and strategies to help the
islands bounce back.
As Sarah Sebastian said back in September,
"Our infrastructure is strong, our landscapes adaptable and our people strong and resilient. We ask nothing of you except that you continue to come here and enjoy what nature blessed us with - namely, our unrivalled sailing conditions and spectacular scenery - along with the hard work and dedication that earned us our prime position on the industry map. That way, you can help us help Barbuda and its proud, capable people get back on their feet."
We wish the islanders, the show organizers, and all those attending a very successful show and a great season ahead!
