Balearic Yacht Destination Takes Roadshow to Florida

Balearics 2

Having blossomed into the one of the leading superyacht hubs of the Mediterranean, the islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera will be spreading word of their success on the other side of the Atlantic at the 58th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). A public-private initiative between the Balearic Yacht Destination (BYD), the Balearic Government and the Balearic Port Authority will be making its FLIBS debut with a fully branded stand from the 1st to the 5th November.

BYD is a professional association of seventeen of the leading Balearic based superyacht marinas, refit shipyards, management and service companies. The organisation was formed in 2014 with the objective of leveraging its collective resources to promote the Balearics to an international audience as a leading destination for superyacht cruising, berthing and refit.

Balearics update croppedThe beautiful Balearic islands are blessed with all the attributes necessary for an enjoyable cruise; attributes such as exquisite turquoise waters washing a backdrop of pine-clad coves, uninterrupted 300-day summers, Michelin-star-quality food, championship golf courses and culturally-rich towns and cities. They also tick every box for refit and repair for boats of every size – up to 160 metres.  The Islands boast some of the best technical areas in Europe with cutting-edge facilities and around 3,000 skilled professionals from 500 companies specialising in every conceivable nautical field of expertise.

BYD’s first exhibition foray was Monaco Yacht Show 2016, and such was the success of the event that the experience was repeated at Monaco Yacht Show 2017 – including a very well attended  wine, cheese and ham tasting event.  This November, BYD in collaboration with representatives from the Department of Labour, Commerce and Industry, the Balearic Institute for Business Innovation, the Chamber of Commerce and the Balearic Port Authority will exhibit at the largest in-water boat show in the world – FLIBS.

FLIBS 2012 big boats3With more than 1,200 boats on display across seven locations covering three million square feet, the Show regularly attracts a diverse crowd of 100,000 boating enthusiasts and is the ideal platform for flaunting the Balearics’ many qualities in terms of superyacht cruising and refit to US-based owners and crew.

The BYD stand will be manned by professional hostesses supported by senior executives from its 17 member companies representing some of the Balearic’s leading superyacht brands. Representing the Balearic Government will be four members of the ministry for employment accompanied by the president of the Balearic Port Authority and the secretary general of the Mallorcan chamber of commerce.
