By Tourist on the Sea - A Taste of Campania

The fourth edition of the By Tourist on the Sea FAM trip concluded with great success this month, showcasing the best of what the Amalfi Coast can offer to superyacht owners and charter guests. Luisa Del Sorbo, Founding Partner of the company By Tourist, created the event in partnership with the Luise Group, to promote the Campania Region to the industry. In attendance this year were representatives from leading yacht charter and brokerage firms from the US, UK, France, Monaco and Germany, as well as journalists from the yachting media. 

The group cruised from Capri to Positano, visited Amalfi, Castellammare di Stabia and also Napoli. Exclusive tours, and behind the scenes access to a variety of cultural sites, were also included in the itinerary. In addition, attendees visited super yacht facilities in the area and had the opportunity to meet with leading providers and businesses in the area.

The medieval castle of Castellammare of Stabia, the Palumbo Shipyard, Marina Molo Luise in downtown Naples, as well as Stabia Main Port were just a few of the super yacht facilities visited during the weekend. Attendees also were also able to experience the gastronomical excellence the area offers, with several Michelin starred chefs preparing meals throughout the weekend. 

Attendees cruised from Positano to Capri on the traditional Turkish gulet Silver Star, offered by Plaghia Charter and Gruppo Battellieri of Amalfi. The cruise provided a first hand view of the natural beauty the coastline offers, followed by a lunch under the lemon groves on the terrace of the famed Da Paolino restaurant.

The medieval castle of Castellammare of Stabia opened exclusively for a guided visit and reception showcasing its breathtaking views of Vesuvius. This area, well known for its gastronomical excellence, did not disappoint, with several of the top restaurants preparing local dishes for the group at La Caravella in Amalfi, at Palazzo Petrucci in Naples and at I Quattro Passi in Nerano, where the famed Chef, Antonio Mellino, hosted the inaugural dinner. Chef Paolo Gramaglia from the kitchen at President also provided a taste of unique antique culinary traditions from his area of Pompeii at a private champagne reception at the Bulgari flagship store in Naplesl. 

“We are now getting ready for our next event,” explained Luisa Del Sorbo, Director of By Tourist. “From November 7th to 10th, our next event is exclusively reserved for super yacht captains and will be run in conjunction with several important partners including the Luise Group, Italian Yacht Masters, Marina Molo Luise, Stabia Main Port, OceanoMare, Versilia Supply Service, and the Palumbo Shipyard.”   Stabia Main Port, located in the heart of the charming little town of Castellammare di Stabia, strategically located between Sorrento and Pompeii, is the newest facility in the region and is quickly becoming a reference point for the largest yachts in the industry.

“In November, Captains will be able to take part in professional development opportunities, free of charge, and visit the protected areas of Punta Campanella and super yacht refit facilities with ANRC. They will be able to experience first hand, the berthing options at Marina Molo Luise in the heart of Naples’s Mergellina district, and Stabia Main Port as well some of the exclusive spa facilities in the area. The event will culminate in an awards ceremony where we will recognize one captain for their excellence representing the Italian super yacht industry.”
