Dockwa Continues Expansion
US based start-up, Dockwa.com has acquired Marinas.com, a site used to research harbours, marinas, and waterways, providing boaters with comprehensive information on more than 75,000 marinas and anchorages.
“The company vision of Dockwa is highly aligned with the vision of Marinas.com,” said Mike Melillo, CEO of Dockwa. “By unifying these platforms, we can more rapidly advance technological adoption in the industry.”
Marinas.com was a first for the world of boating in 1995, representing one of the marine industry's earliest moves into the digital age.
In the immediate future, Marinas.com will remain a boating resource and Dockwa will continue to focus on creating innovative tools to connect boaters with marinas in real time. Over the next few months, there are plans to integrate the sites making it easier to research and reserve berths/slips and to cooperate with further marina partners to make bookings more easy.
Notable assets of Marinas.com include a wealth of high-resolution aerial navigation photography of marinas, inlets, waterfront communities, and nautical points of interest. Dockwa will integrate those photos into the Dockwa app and site. Marinas.com assets include also BoatBuzz boater forum and over 100,000 boating customers.
With this acquisition, Dockwa grows its marina partner network to more than 500 businesses and further expands its international footprint to Central and South America, and parts of Europe. The application of both Marinas.com and Dockwa’s product offerings provides a powerful tool for dock staff who manage daily operations.
