MCA's Chief Executive to Keynote Superyacht UK Technical Seminar 2019
The 2019 Superyacht UK Technical Seminar’s keynote speech will be delivered by the Maritime Coastguard Agency’s new Chief Executive, Brian Johnson. He will be sharing his thoughts of the importance of the superyacht market to the global fleet.
Superyacht UK will be hosting the 9th edition of this now established annual event on 27 March 2019 in its new home at the British Marine Expo at St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton. Expected to attract more than 100 industry professionals, it will bring together delegates from across the world and a variety of respected speakers to debate and consider a number of the hottest legislative topics in today’s thriving superyacht sector.
The Technical Seminar will include a presentation from Sunseeker International on its revolutionary move towards building metal vessels, a discussion on the challenges using tenders as rescue vessels and an update from the International Council of Marine Industry Association on the Ricaro Report.
Importantly, there will be a number of key updates from industry experts on the latest regulatory and standardisation developments over the past 12 months. This includes an in-depth brief on new ISO standards from Jo Assael, Chair of ISO TC8 SC12, and a discussion led by a representative of the Cayman Islands Shipping Register on the new Red Ensign Group Code, which was launched at the beginning of the year.
There will also be a joint talk on the development of a new ISO standard looking at the non-destructive testing of large yacht composite masts and an address on the vital advancement meeting IMO standards on composites fire protection on vessels over 500GT from Tom Royle of Wizz Consultancy.
To round off the day, delegates will be invited to attend the popular Superyacht UK drinks reception which takes place directly following the Seminar and provides an invaluable networking opportunity.
Lesley Robinson, CEO of British Marine, commented: “We are delighted to once again be able to host such a pivotal event in the superyacht industry calendar. The Superyacht UK Technical Seminar offers the chance to engage directly with key speakers and influencers within the industry, as well as the unique opportunity to network both with peers and meet new contacts.”
This year’s Seminar is headline sponsored by Princess Yachts and will be hosted on day two of the inaugural British Marine Expo, taking place on 26-27 March 2019 at the impressive St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. Delivering a packed schedule of talks, seminars and networking opportunities, the Expo will bring together some of British Marine’s most established events with fantastic chances to learn, network and sell.
Tickets for the Superyacht UK Technical Seminar 2019 and other events at British Marine Expo, including the Supply Chain Conference and Meet the Buyer event, are available at britishmarine.co.uk/bmexpo.
