MEDYS Chefs' Competition
The 6th Mediterranean Yacht Show will once again provide a platform for some of Greece’s leading chefs to exhibit their culinary flair in the exciting Chefs' Competition.
The Competition is an integral part of the show, in which the luxury yacht gastronomy gurus take centre stage to show off their impeccable culinary skills as they go head to head with their peers, some of the best chefs in Greece, for the much-coveted title!
This year it is an honour to welcome two of Greece’s brightest culinary stars to MEDYS in the role of Judges. Chef Angelos Lantos of Spondi Restaurant in Athens is the first Greek chef to be awarded with 2 Michelin stars and with over twenty years of experience and international recognition for his innovative style & attention to technique, he will closely scrutinize this year’s entries.
Also bringing his unique gastronomic perspective to the show will be Thanos Stasinos, Executive Chef of some of Greece & Europe’s top restaurants. With his extensive experience in venues such as Nikkei Athens, Pacific in Monte Carlo and the Ritz Carlton in Valencia, he is sure to be a very demanding judge.

We are pleased to announce that the 2019 MEDYS Chefs' Competition will once again be supported by Domaine Skouras, producers of fine Greek wines, in its role as sponsor. Also joining us as Sponsor will be award-winning 3Sixty Cafe Bar & Wine Restaurant, Nafplio. The organising committee of MEDYS is extremely grateful to both for their invaluable support.
2019 Competition Theme: Gourmet "Beach" Food
The contestants of the Chefs’ Competition 2019 are invited to create dishes inspired by the philosophy of ‘Street Food’ in a gourmet version, worthy of the high standards of Greek and international gastronomy.
The choice for this year’s competition theme reflects the popular type of cuisine that is a tasty favourite in the everyday life of millions of people all over the world. One of the most well-known trends is transformed into a high-end taste experience, with Chefs participating in a special challenge: to turn classic street food dishes (Greek or world cuisine) into complex gourmet recipes using sophisticated ingredients to offer multiple levels of enjoyment.
Contestants can take advantage of the local produce and incorporate innovations into their dish that will impress the judges. They are free to prepare their own gourmet version of ‘street’ food, such as souvlaki, burgers, noodles, hot dogs or bao buns, worthy of being served on luxury yachts in order to gain maximum points from the judging panel.
Tablescaping Competition
The Tablescaping Competition is also an established part of MEDYS and invites yacht crews to show their prowess in preparing beautifully set tables fit for a special dinner, from elegant art de la table arrangements to contemporary chic dining layouts.
