Rivergate Cements Global Status
Rivergate Marina & Shipyard is ranked third in the world on Boat International’s Refit Crew list of the top international yards to undertake superyacht refit work, topping its nearest Aussie competitor and 29 of the leading yards in the US, Italy, UK, Spain and France.
“We are delighted, and link this success to our ongoing continuous improvement program,” said Andrew Cannon, Rivergate General Manager who for 11 years has been guiding the evolution of Australia’s leading shipyard.
“Visiting Captains tell us repeatedly that Rivergate is consistently among the top refit yards for quality, competitive pricing, timely delivery, accountability and going the extra mile each time. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals from happy owners, Captains and managers.”
In the past 18 months, Rivergate has welcomed back internationally significant superyachts including MY Big Fish, MY Aurora, MY Whistler, MY Sahana, MY Pursuit, MY Aquamarina, MY Mohasewei, MY SuRi and MY Kokomo II, as well as sailing superyachts SY Cannonball and SY Southern Cloud.
In the lead up to sailing season, Rivergate hosted world-class sailing vessels including 90-year-old Dorade; the champion V70, Black Jack; the Reichel/Pugh 100 Black Jack; Wild Oats XI, eight times line honours winner of the Sydney Hobart; and from the US, the world’s most technically advanced carbon fibre maxi designed to be the fastest monohull ever built, Comanche.
There are 20 workshops at Rivergate with about 140 marine professionals onsite in addition to local contractors.
“Rivergate delivers exceptional service to budget and deadline – and that’s our point of difference and testament to the skills of our tenants. We aim to provide the service and skills superyachts can’t get anywhere else in the world.”
The Captain of 46m expedition superyacht, Qing said the quality of workmanship at Rivergate impressed the owners and entire crew. “We arrived to complete a 5-year survey and ended up carrying out an extensive refit due to the quality workmanship Rivergate could provide. After four and a half months, we left with a much better and more efficient yacht. I can highly recommend Rivergate as a one-stop shop to do your refit. Excellent is the word I would use!”
Captain Paul Maguire of Hey Jude said “Rivergate always goes above and beyond, it’s just how they operate. Every challenge, and with superyachts they can be many and complicated, is met with determination to find a solution.”
Captain Nick Macrossan of Triple 8 praised Rivergate for the expertise of its management, saying “Rivergate Marina & Shipyard is without a doubt, the best place worldwide that I have ever been to have maintenance done”.
“I have never before felt such confidence in the management as I have at Rivergate. Competitive quotes from multiple contractors are the norm, and a personalised commitment unlike I have experienced before.
“After a year’s voyaging from the USA, we had a number of large and small jobs to perform, from paintwork to fabrication. We managed to get everything done within the time frame and at a cost well under what we expected. The first maintenance period was so successful, we returned for a haul out and more work simply because they were so good at their job.”
In 2018, Rivergate plans to fly the flag for Australian ingenuity, service and pride of workmanship, attending Singapore Yacht Show in April, the Superyacht Rendezvous on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Tahiti Rendezvous in June, followed by Cannes and Monaco Yachts Shows.
