Sarah Watson Joins The Crew Academy

The Crew Academy is excited to announce that interior yacht management expert, Sarah Watson, will be joining the team as Management Trainer in February 2017. 

“We are delighted to have Sarah onboard.”, said Andrew Roch, Managing Director, “She brings a wealth of experience from all levels of yachting and a fresh dynamic to our management training courses.”

Sarah first stepped onboard in 2003 and has since held positions from sole stew to purser, on yachts ranging from 30 – 90m. A qualified teacher, with experience in managing her own MLC compliant business, she is well-placed to take on The Crew Academy’s renowned Purser Course and Management and Leadership training, both independently accredited by the PYA GUEST programme. 

As a graduate of the TCA Purser Course herself, Sarah has a good understanding of the student experience and plenty of ideas on how to refresh the course, ensuring it remains the foremost, industry-leading course for both established and aspiring superyacht pursers. 

“I am thrilled to be joining the incredible team at The Crew Academy. Being asked to teach their flagship Purser Course is an honour; I am very excited to have the opportunity to use my yachting experiences and educational knowledge in one role.” 

Sarah will teach the first purser course of 2017, commencing 13 February. The course itself runs for three weeks and is an intensive, classroom-based course, covering a variety of in-depth modules appropriate to the role of purser onboard a luxury yacht. Students are put through their paces, with weekly exams for each of the modules covered, homework and distance learning modules, all of which must be completed to exacting standards in order to graduate. 

Students are accommodated for the duration of the course in The Crew Academy’s residential base, not far from Antibes. The residence is considered a retreat by most students, away from the hustle of the coast and a chance to focus on their work, bond with fellow students and enjoy the peaceful surrounds.
