TEAM Italia Celebrates 20 Years in Yachting
TEAM Italia is celebrating 20 years of business with over 500 completed projects for superyachts (30-100 metre range), making the company a leading provider internationally of electronic solutions for integrated navigation.
TEAM Italia was born from the intuition of Massimo Minnella, CEO of TEAM Italia and Daniele Ceccanti, TEAM Italia's Technical Manager, about the need to introduce new technologies into the world of yachting. Over time, they specialised in the optimisation and functional integration of systems for navigation, communications, security and data transmission, with the aim of making their on board use easier.
With its i-Bridge® and i-Chart® products, TEAM Italia has specifically integrated multiple systems that are now essential on board, making them user-friendly and fast, thus increasing safety levels at sea.
“Our decision to concentrate on new technologies and integrate them according to individual Owners’ needs requires complex organisation,” explains Massimo Minnella. “A bridge cannot be defined ‘integrated’ by definition alone: to be truly such, there must be a team and an organisation that can follow every phase of the project, at a time when technology develops very rapidly and becomes increasingly complex with every passing day.”
Among the hundreds of yachts that in these 20 years have been equipped with TEAM Italia integrated bridges, some are particularly significant, such as the 62m Benetti MY Adora, the 59.4m Baglietto MY Vicky, the MY Kolaha by ISA Yachts (64m) or the 80m MY Chopi Chopi by CRN, especially because they were the forerunners, as early as 2008, of yachts series built by each of those shipyards. There are dozens of models on which TEAM Italia technology has always been requested time and time again. The most recent and particularly innovative projects also include two Perini SY Sybaris (70m) and SY Seven (60m), MY Utopia IV (63m) by Rossinavi and MY Dragon (80m) by Columbus Yachts.
TEAM Italia Today
A 100% Italian company, TEAM Italia currently has five offices located on the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian coasts. By working with carefully selected international partners, the company can provide their services in the most strategic locations of the global luxury yachting market, guaranteeing a top-quality customer assistance service.
“To effectively rise to the challenge of an increasingly global market, we are working on our internal organisation, implementing specific IT technologies for remote diagnostics and assistance, which allow us to offer a prompt and widespread service,” concludes Daniele Ceccanti.
Among the various i-Bridge® solutions, it is impossible not to mention the ones with a transparent Head Up display that can overlay data onto the actual navigation view, or the I-Bridge® Air Wings, the nav-com integrated solution dedicated to megayachts in which distributed electronics are combined with an advanced design for panoramic wheelhouses.
All the bridges are developed and tested entirely in-house to guarantee the usability of the control interfaces and simplified management of on-board systems, thanks to integrated monitoring systems developed by Onyx Marine Automation, a TEAM Italia company.
In this nautical year, there were 32 superyachts navigating with TEAM Italia integrated bridges. The season’s most interesting models include the 70m FB273 by Benetti, the 64m MY Attila (the flagship of the Cantiere Sanlorenzo shipyard), the 107m Benetti MY IJE, the Pershing 140 Touch Me (43,3m), the Riva 50 Metres Race and the most recent, the 44Alloy by Sanlorenzo (44.5m), a new model that is making its official debut this year.
Lastly, a striking development - the collaboration with Rolls Royce and its MTU department, which began last year - confirms yet again the level of technology that TEAM Italia can achieve. The R&D departments of the two companies are working closely together to develop new integrated bridge solutions that will offer the market a highly technological and innovative product.
