2023 Edition of Viareggio Bastia Viareggio to Take Place this July

The Bastia Viareggio -Angelo Moratti Trophy is set to return to Club Nautico Versilia this summer. The eco-sustainable and plastic-free regatta will be held from 5 to 8 July under the aegis of the Italian Sailing Federation, by the Club Nautico Versilia with the collaboration of Navigo, the Municipality of Viareggio, iCare and U.V.A.I., the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Viareggio Port Authority.

The 2023 edition will take place on the traditional route between Versilia and Corsica in full respect of the ecosystem of the stretch of sea involved. Spectacular maxi yachts and the Class A sailing boats of the new regulation Altura della Fiv will compete for the trophy won last year by the GS 56C Paolisssima ridden by Luca and Paola Poli while trying to beat the record of the Maxi 100 Arca SGR which, helmed by the Trieste skipper Furio Benussi with the Fast and Furio Sailing Team, crossed the finish line first in Viareggio after 22 hours 52 minutes and 53 seconds, and a little more than 150 miles travelled.

In addition to the historic Angelo Moratti Trophy awarded to the winner and the Straulino Trophy donated by the honorary President of CNV Roberto Righi for the record holder, numerous special awards are expected this year too, including the City of Viareggio, the Fideuram, Comune di Viareggio, Club Nautico Versilia, Marevivo Onlus Toscana and the Marevivo Sailing Division award for the photographic contest.

Thanks to the engaging program of side events, the VBV 2023 will not only be a great moment of sport but also an unmissable appointment with the glamourous activities that will catalyze the attention and interest of professionals, enthusiasts, tourists and the public. Furthermore, the Regatta Village and the Hospitality Area, with the presence of sponsors and industry personalities, will hold meetings on sustainability and technological development in the nautical world and beyond plus activities of entertainment for all four days and evenings of the event.

Fideuram Private Banker will be the official main sponsor of the event alongside public main sponsor iCare, the Viareggio Porto 2020, Navigo and the Marevivo Onlus Association - but this time it will be joined by Axa Insurance, a pleasant and welcome novelty of this edition. The full collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Viareggio also continues, reaffirming the attention towards the promotion of Sport and the revitalization of the Versilia town.
