Inside the 7th Mediterranean Yacht Show 2022

After two years of unforeseen circumstances and more anticipation than ever before, the historic port of Nafplion in the Peloponnese will be hosting the 7th Mediterranean Yacht Show from April 30 to the May 4 2022. Now the permanent venue of this extravagant luxury yachting event, Nafplion provides the perfect backdrop for the biggest trade show of its kind in the world.

The small town on the Argolic Gulf in the Peloponnese offers a sheltered harbour for the luxury yachts participating in the Mediterranean Yacht Show and is a truly spectacular location. Due to its important strategic position, Nafplion was coveted by many foreign powers in the past, and a walk around its narrow cobbled alleyways and small squares will reveal much of that intriguing history, with neo-classical buildings, Byzantine churches, and even a 15th century mosque!

For those who are lovers of history and architecture, the commanding Palamidi Fortress is well worth a visit: a Venetian fortification boasting sweeping panoramic views across the gulf and down to the tiny island fortress of Bourtzi in the harbour below. Proud capital of the First Hellenic Republic from 1823 until 1834, Nafplion is a lovely location with welcoming residents, making it an ideal destination to explore while you are at the show.

This Year at the MEDYS

The 7th Mediterranean Yacht Show is expected to see a record turnout of attendees this spring as it continues to grow in popularity. In terms of numbers, the 2019 show was attended by over 450 international brokers from 31 countries as well as a plethora of impressive yachts with a cumulative length of 3,5km. As the premier yacht charter show not only in the Mediterranean, but also worldwide, the MEDYS has become a renowned event attracting industry professionals from every corner of the globe.

The Show also invites attendees to enjoy the coastal town and to experience Greek “philoxenia” first-hand as they explore the lively streets and the seaside traditional tavernas. Gastronomy further takes centre stage this year with the return of the much-loved Chefs’ Competition. Brokers will also have the chance to meet the captains and crews on board the yachts themselves which is a very rewarding experience providing unmatched insights. The warm hospitality enjoyed by all is an important key to the show’s success, giving brokers a real sense of what a wonderful time their clients can have when chartering in Greek waters.
