Les Voiles d’Antibes 2016 - Full Program
From 1-5 June, in the shade of the old ramparts of Antibes, the XXI Edition of les Voiles d'Antibes will welcome many of the world's most renowned classic yachts to race in the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2016.
Les Voiles d'Antibes - Trophée Panerai welcomes Vintage Yachts (built before 1950), Classic Yachts (built before 1976), Spirit of Tradition Yachts, and metric classes (6, 8 and 12 MJI, competitors in the America's Cup from 1958-1987), representing the great history of international yachting and its values of fair play, solidarity and respect.
Established in 1996, this is the first regatta of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, combining adventure and elegance in the true sporting tradition.
For most participants, this prestigious gathering is the first major event of the Mediterranean season, paying homage to a core of mythical boats such as Moonbeam, Cambria, Mariquita, Mariska, Stormy Weather, Bona Fide, Hallowe'en, Firebird, Outlaw, Adria and Lulu. Each year the event also attracts new entries to the circuit following restoration and renovation.
This celebrated event is also an opportunity for fans to come and enjoy the pure architectural lines and harmony of the rigs, and watch race crews preparing with passion and meticulous attention to detail in the run up to the 23km race between Antibes and Juan les Pins.
Open daily from 9am to 10pm, Les Voiles d'Antibes is free and open to the general public, providing a great meeting place for laymen and experts to share in the spirit of the event. As well as racing, there are numerous nautical exhibits and packed-out concerts every night featuring popular acts such as SBK06 and Fred Zumba, the Capelina, Eddy Ray Cooper, riff Tonic, Merry Woods and everyone's favourite, BLAH BLAH.
Anitbes is certainly the warmest host on the circuit and a great way to kick off the season - see you there!
