Rolex Swan Cup Porto Cervo

With a record number of 121 Swans already registered, the 19th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup runs from 11-18 September 2016 in the emerald waters of Porto Cervo in Italy.

Contestants will experience the magnificent Archipelago of La Maddalena, a national park since 1994. while the long coastal race takes the fleet north as far as the Strait of Bonifacio and down to the southern tip of Corsica. As well as challenging navigation and some shallow waters, the famous Mistral winds can also add to the fun at any moment.

This year's iconic event also marks 50th anniversary celebrations for Nautor's Swan, recognised the world over for their combination of style, quality and performance. Staged at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. passionate sailors from around the world wll come together to compete and catch up with peers and friends. The Rolex Swan Cup is a sailing tradition, a weeklong feast of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

This year's event will attract examples of nearly every model ever produced in Swan's 50 year history, including the first Swan ever built, Tarantella, three Swan 115s, three ClubSwan 50s and the latest bluewater Swan 54.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The fleet will be divided according to size and age: Swan Maxi Class (80 ft and above), Swan Mini Maxi Class (between 56 and 80 ft), Swan Grand Prix Class (56 ft and below), Sparkman & Stephens Class, Club Swan 42 Class and Swan 45 Class. The Swan 45’s will also compete for the World Championship title.

The social program is always lively, and ends with the popular crew party organized by Rolex at Porto Cervo's Colonna Resort. Partners for the event include champagne house Perrier-Jouet and Leica cameras, who will document every stage of the event with beautiful photography.
