Feadship 'Como' Steals the Show at Showboats Design Awards
Feadship Como won all three categories for which she was entered at last night’s Showboats Design Awards. At a glittering ceremony in Kitzbühel, Austria, the 46-metre Feadship won the golden Neptune awards for Naval Architecture, Exterior Design & Styling and Interior Design.
Feadship congratulates all three of the key partners in this success – naval architect and exterior designer Ed Dubois, interior designer Redman Whiteley Dixon and Como’s owner Neville Crichton for the vision and commitment to excellence that has achieved this result.
One of the reasons why the Showboats Design Awards are such a pleasure to win is that they are chosen by an independent panel of owners, senior yacht crew and leading naval architects, designers and stylists from within and outside the marine industry.
This makes the words of the judges in explaining their decision to present Como with not one but three Neptunes all the more special.
Here is a short summary of what they had to say in the different categories:
Naval Architecture Award for semi displacement yachts: Como is a prime example of optimisation both for efficiency and for seakeeping. The judges applauded the yacht’s displacement to length ratio and the way that Como runs with very little wake, even in tight turning circles.
Exterior Design & Styling Award below 500GT:
The judges offered highlights and drawbacks of each contender for this award but Como was the only yacht which they described as having no failures or flaws in the beauty or working layout of her exterior decks. They lauded the shapes and colour scheme and also found Como to be the most innovative of the entries.
Interior Design Award - motor yachts below 500GT:
The committee shortlisted 12 strong contenders for this award but Como stood out both for the lifestyle offered in her space planning and for her interior style, décor and finishes. According to the judges, every element of Como’s interior matched the design brief for a masculine yacht that supports entertaining on a grand scale.
