Gearing up for Asia Superyacht Rendezvous
Over the past 15 years The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous (ASR) has welcomed many of the world’s finest superyachts over 25m and this year's event promises to be just as spectacular, for the first time culminating in the award of an ASR Cup.
Long time organisers, Gordon Fernandes and Captain 'Champagne Charlie' Dwyer said, “The elite gathering, held December 16-18 every year, consistently attracts superior sail and power vessels from among the world’s stunning superyachts.”
and guests can also choose to race or simply enjoy the pleasure of being out on the water during the races.
Commenting on his experience last year, one registrant said, “You can forget the Med and the Caribbean. As a relatively new owner of a superyacht, I am keen to learn more about cruising in the region, even on to Myanmar, and ASR provides a unique opportunity at which to do so, while learning from other owners’ experiences.”
Johnny Warrillow, owner of superyacht, Maverick II, said, “We attended because it is a very friendly gathering of yacht owners in Phuket, a region that has an exciting future as a base in Asia. And, it is fun to be part of it from the start. The relaxed and informal ‘opening party’ aboard a Superyacht sets the tone for the rest of the event, where friendships are forged over shared experiences.”
This year VIP guests will be transported by tenders to the opening night cocktail party aboard the unique sailing yacht Dunia Baru. There will also be plenty of opportunies for socializing during the two days of sailing races and pleasure cruising.
An elite superyacht event on land and water, the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous sits perfectly between Phuket’s King’s Cup and the Thailand Yacht Show and is a wonderful setting for superyacht owners and captains to meet in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
