IMM Announces 180 Metre Dry Dock for Yachts in Caribbean
Yacht refit and project management specialist International Marine Management (IMM) is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with ENA, the manager of a180-metre dry dock in Fort de France, Martinique, allowing exclusive access to the facility for superyachts.
The announcement is a significant development in the refit and maintenance infrastructure that is accessible to superyachts in the Caribbean.
Since changing hands at the beginning of 2015, ENA has undertaken significant improvements to the dry dock and surrounding area, making the facility even more attractive to superyachts. The dock is 180 metres long, 23.5 metres wide, with 7.6 metre draft (above the blocks).
Norina Edelman, one of the directors of IMM, commented on the developments: “We are thrilled with this new addition to our capacity. A dry dock of this scale under the management of our experienced project managers is a unique offering in the Caribbean. Having originally worked in Europe, our team is familiar with working on 100m+ superyachts and the unique challenges that these very large vessels present.”
The dry dock is centrally located in Fort de France, in an ISPS-compliant area. Being the only dry dock of its size in the area, it is ideal for yachting clients. Metal workshops are located onsite, with ABS, Lloyd’s and BV-certified welders available.
For general mechanical works, renowned French specialist Sud Moteur is able to assist with any scale of project.
The yachting projects undertaken in the Martinique facility will be managed by two of IMM’s principals, Fabrice Maitre and Jean-Michel Beron, who have been responsible for a wide range of complex refits throughout the French Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
Since 2010, IMM has managed several refits in the Martinique dry dock; each delivered on time, on budget and to a European yachting-quality standard.
The captain of a 70+m motor yacht that had work carried out in the dock commented of the experience: “The combination of IMM project management and the dry dock facility in Martinique makes for a unique service at this location. Without hesitation, I also recommend the professional service of IMM to any other yacht captain looking for service in the Caribbean.”
