Musto Launches new Virtual Speed for Dinghy Racers
MUSTO is searching for the UK's fastest dinghy sailor through the launch of its new adrenaline inducing Speed Challenge, which is catapulting racing into the digital age.
The MUSTO Speed Challenge is a thrilling virtual regatta where participants can sign up for free online via www.mustospeedchallenge.com.
Once they have logged their speed, participants can see how their score compares to others around the UK out of those sailing in the same class and those in others classes – collectively, proving which is the fastest dinghy after handicap allowances.
To participate, sailors will need to capture their top speed on a GPS device and upload their best effort directly to the free-to-download mobile app or website, where participants will be able to view their overall ranking.
Each month, MUSTO will be announcing the top three competitors, who will also appear on the Overall Speed Wall in Yachts and Yachting, who will be awarded a MUSTO kit from the new 2015 range. Competitors in the top 10 on the Overall Speed Wall on the 30th August will be invited to participate in the MUSTO Speed Challenge final at the Southampton Boat Show.
Each of the top 10 finalists will be awarded a MUSTO kit bag, crammed full with durable, long-lasting kit worth over £1,000; the overall winner will be crowned the MUSTO Speed Challenge champion 2015.
The 2015 MUSTO Dinghy range offers style on the water with technical stretch fabrics for complete freedom of movement, strategic anti-abrasion reinforcements for durability, and complete weather protection.
The changeability of inshore weather demands versatility in dinghy apparel and MUSTO delivers. Using the principle of the 3-layer system, all the dinghy wear is easy to layer. The MUSTO Dinghy Neoprene Top sits comfortably underneath the MUSTO Dinghy Long John Wetsuit, and the MUSTO Dinghy Smock provides essential waterproof protection and warmth. Built to last, the collection is waterproof, windproof and breathable, ideal for year-round, high octane sailing.
Brand founder Nigel Musto says, "I've had some great experiences with dinghy's in the past, it's simply about going fast and having fun – what sailing is really all about. We're launching the MUSTO Speed Challenge to celebrate why we all take up sailing and why it becomes not just a hobby, but also a way of life, so get out on the water and enjoy!"
For many, dinghy sailing is an introduction to the water, but the MUSTO Speed Challenge is open to all levels of experience from the humble beginner, to the seasoned pro. Harnessing decades of first hand experience, this is why MUSTO has continued to develop the Junior Dinghy Rangeensuring the quality and innovation of each garment. The collection is available via the MUSTO website.
