Winch Design wins Best Interior Design Award for MY Synthesis
Winch Design is incredibly proud to announce that 74m MY Synthesis has won the award in the prestigious category of 'Best Interior Design, Motor Yachts 500GT and above' at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards. Built at Amels shipyard, featuring interior design by Winch Design and an exterior penned by Tim Heywood, this award is a testament to the skill, knowledge and capability of everyone involved.
Synthesis is the 5th hull in the widely regarded Amels 242 Limited Editions range and has been meticulously customised to meet the experienced owner’s requirements, with a particular focus on light and colourful spaces that blend seamlessly with the exterior layouts. As with all Amels Limited Editions, Synthesis benefits from naval architecture by Damen Yachting and her exterior is penned by Tim Heywood.
Her interior, designed by Winch Design, is inspired by the natural world, with influence born from both the beauty of the Alps and a Miami Beach sunset. The importance of feeling connected to nature is at the heart of the interior concept which in turn led to several integral design decisions that make her interior feel not just full of spirit but also harmonious. The design team at Winch focused on connecting the exterior and interior spaces, allowing guests to feel at one with their surroundings and unrestricted by the expectations of an individual space.
Guests are greeted by exquisite art at the main entrance, followed by a relaxed walk through to the forward VIP suites, where open grain natural materials and textured finishes create a tactile, organic feeling, stirring the senses of sight and touch. The spacious Owner’s deck continues the recurring theme of connectivity, with spaces, materials and flooring interconnecting fluidly with one another. The deck is peppered with carefully considered artwork and features furniture pieces such as the elegant exterior dining table, custom made to extend from casual family dining to banquet style entertaining.
His and hers private bathrooms feature bathtubs and over-sized showers, both with a panoramic view to the water and natural stone is beautifully accented with resin-set reclaimed barnwood for a touch of the unusual. And after a night’s rest in the lower guest suites, the wellness spa offers both a calm oasis of massage, hammam and sauna treatments, or an invigorating dive off the starboard terrace platform. The rare “verde bamboo” marble backdrop to the space suggests a tropical paradise and typifies the exclusivity of the yacht’s interior; so relaxing to live with, but incredibly individual.
With a gross tonnage of 1,790, Synthesis comfortably accommodates 12 guests in six cabins with 19 crew. A helipad on the bridge deck aft and a tender garage that holds two 9-metre custom tenders are just some of the impressive features for guests to enjoy.
“The Amels 242 has proved itself to be a great platform on which to create a unique design by redefining the spaces and ‘lifestyle thinking’”, says Jim Dixon, Director, Yachts & Aviation at Winch Design. “Synthesis has developed a very individual and tailored space arrangement and design signature.”
