The Indonesian Minister for Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, has ordered the sinking of 106 foreign fishing boats caught fishing illegally in Indonesian waters.
In a bid to prove that the government is commited to eradicating illegal fishing, the Sea and Air Police, as well as the Navy have sunk more than a hundred boats in it's first year in power.
Pudjiastuti has stated that a previous absence of law enforcement in this area has negatively affected foreign investment, adding that she was serious in cracking down on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUUF).
