Call for Nominations for The Ocean Awards
Boat International in partnership with ocean conservation charity Blue Marine Foundation invites nominations for the third annual Ocean Awards.
The Awards are designed to celebrate and support those who have made the greatest contribution in the fight to fix the crisis in our oceans over the last 12 months.
This year there are five categories up for nomination and the winners will be decided by a panel of judges including Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Peter Lürssen, Professor Alex Rogers of the University of Oxford and Professor Callum Roberts of the University of York.
2018 Ocean Award Categories
1. The Local Hero
To recognise the individual or group that has had the most positive impact on the marine environment within their local community.
2. Science
To recognise the individual or research team that has made the most important scientific contribution to the ocean.
3. Innovation
To recognise the individual, company or group that has most driven innovation for the benefit of the ocean. This can include development of the most promising new technology to benefit the marine environment or business operations which are not conducted at the expense of the marine environment.
4. Visionary
To recognise the individual or group that has taken the lead on global actions for the benefit of the oceans, demonstrating leadership and vision in their commitment to protecting marine life. This can include policy initiatives and the people behind them.
5. Public Awareness
To recognise the individual or group that has done the most this year to advance public awareness and understanding of marine conservation issues, through mainstream media, art forms, schools, or by campaigning.

To qualify, entrants must have made their contributions to the health of the oceans between 1 July 2016 and 30 November 2017.
