Felixstowe Yacht Collision: Woman's Body Found
The body of a woman thought to have been involved in a collision at sea has been recovered from waters off the Suffolk coast.
The retrieval follows an accident involving a yacht and the Shoreway dredger about five miles from Felixstowe on Sunday.
A man, a woman and two dogs were on the yacht before it sank. The man and one dog were rescued by the dredger's crew.
Suffolk Police said the body was found in the area of the collision.
"Although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed the body is that of the woman who had been on board the yacht," a police spokesman said.
The body was found at about 17:00 and has been taken ashore. A post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The woman's death is being treated as unexplained and the coroner has been informed.
A joint investigation into the collision will now be carried out by Suffolk Police and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.
