Xiamen to Build 2,000 Berths for Rapid Development of Sailing Industry
The news that a rich family celebrated their daughter’s 16-year-birthday by sailing a luxury sailboat along China’s coast has brought about a heated discussion around China, bringing luxury sailing into the spotlight.
Wang Yigong, the vice-president of the Xiamen Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and the executive vice chairman of the Shanghui (Xiamen) Sailing & Yacht Sports Club, indicated that the sailing market in Xiamen is expected to continue growing.
Xiamen has launched a project to build 2,000 sailing boat berths and other supporting facilities to spur on the development of the sailing industry.
According to Wang Yigong, he has sold more than 30 sail boats in China since 2013. With the increase of yacht and boat enthusiasts in China, the consumption scale of China’s sailing industry is expected to reach RMB 200 billion yuan to RMB 300 billion by the end of 2015.
There are 3 to 5 sailing clubs in Xiamen, and lots of sailing competitions have been held in Xaimen. Besides, the advantages of Wuyuan Bay Marina in Xiamen also help promote the development of the sailing market.
With beautiful natural scenery, a warm winter and nice wind all year round, Wuyuan Bay Marina will grow into a recreational boating site with training, exhibition, sales, mooring and maintenance all-in-one.
