Jeju provincial government plans to invest a total of 2.9 billion won [$2.6 million or £1.7 milion] in Gimnyeong Port, upgrading the yachting facilities, public moorage, and clubhouse.

With these plans, the Jeju government expects to boost yacht and marine tourism on the island.

In 2012, 2.540 billion won was allocated to build a public moorage and club house at Gimnyeong Port and 2 billion won was for a public moorage, and other related facilities at Dodu Port.

The provincial government will finalize plans to build the public marina port at Gimnyeong Port and Dodu Port by 2013.

Jeju aims to be Northeast Asia’s leading yachting and marina hub, with plans to invest in the Seogwipo international yacht school at Hwasun Port and improve facilities at Gangjeong, Jungmun and Iho, where 18 billion won will be put into public and private marinas.

Jeju provincial government hopes to attract tourists and satisfy the increased demand for yacht tourism.
